Just a reminder that the California Department of Fish and Wildlife Youth Essay Contest Deadline is tomorrow! December 14th!Eeeek! My kids need to submit something! I ask them to do this every year and I have yet to win the battle! I could be that parent who writes something for them, but it just wouldn’t be the same! I want them to write an essay from the heart. To put their little fingers to a keyboard and really explain the lessons they have learned while hunting, and how hunting has impacted their lives!
Some of you might be reading this and wondering what exactly I am rambling about here. I rambled about it on the radio show last week too and promised to post this link on the blog for all my listeners and I totally failed on that until now! So to sum it up, CDFW hosts a youth essay contest for Jr. Hunting License holders to submit a 500 word essay on the impacts hunting has had on their lives. Lots of prizes are awarded to the contest winners, including a Lifetime Hunting License, which is an incredible prize! Totally worth having them jot a few words down in the form of an essay! That is BIG money over time, if they win!
The link below outlines the contest housekeeping stuff better than I can. But seriously, have your kids write something out. Even as last minute as it is, it is well worth the time. Mom and Dad will have a cool keepsake to cherish and the kids ha
ve a chance at winning some awesome prizes!
I plan to hold my kids’ phones ransom until I have an essay of some kind in hand. No matter how long, short, good, bad or well written it is! Hope you can get your kiddos to partake without such extreme measures! It is a cool contest and we are lucky our Department hosts it!
By the way, if any of you get your kiddos to write something and they would be willing to share on the blog. I’d love to highlight in hopes of inspiring more kids!
